One man is dead and a woman — still missing as of Monday morning — is presumed dead after falling into the Chicago River; a third man who also fell is in stable condition.
The Tribune reports the 26-year-old man fell into the river around 12:05 a.m. Monday when he lunged after the cell phone he dropped along the riverwalk in the 400 block of East Water Street near Lake Shore Drive.
Once in the water, the 21-year-old woman and 23-year-old man who were with him reportedly went into the water to help him. Authorities said the 26-year-old man from St. Paul, Minn. was later pronounced dead at an area hospital while the 23-year-old man was listed in stable condition Monday morning.
