First-degree murder charges have been approved for a 14-year-old girl after an 11-year-old girl in the Chicago suburb of Mundelein was found dead at home early Tuesday, prompting a lockdown at three local schools.
Police responded to the 1600 block of Woodhaven Court about 8:25 a.m. Tuesday over a call of an unresponsive girl in the home, the Sun-Times reports. Inside, police found the young girl dead inside a bedroom.
Officials were noticeably cautious about what information they revealed during a Wednesday news conference. Mundelein Police Chief Eric Guenther said there was a struggle between the girls and that the victim was found with “multiple stab wounds.” Guenther said the call to police was made by the suspect.
