12th Annual Unity Day Chicago to Provide Scholarships for Students

On Saturday, May 28th, the team of Devo Entertainment, the Robinson Family, and a collective of community-centered entities are coming together for the 12th annual “Unity Day Chicago (hashtag #UnityDayChi)”. Evolving from a family get-together, the event takes place each year on Memorial Day Weekend.

Unity Day Chicago calls on south and westside communities to engage and come together to build a better Chicago. The event will also provide scholarship opportunities for the youth.

On May 28th  at 8 am, runners, walkers, and the greater community are invited to attend the 5K Walk and Run at Columbus Park (5701 W Jackson) where they may register in person for the event. Thanks to support and sponsorship from Clark Academic Prep Magnet High School and Parent University, participants can enjoy food, fun, and multiple music stations and settings all while staying fit and community interaction.

A $10 donation is asked for each 5k participant. Proceeds provide scholarships to assist students aspiring to continue their education beyond the high school level (i.e. 2-year, 4-year, trade, and tech schools).  In its 12th year, Unity Day Chicago has been supported by many political leaders including the Mayor, Alderman, and local government officials, who have lent their support to larger community-building efforts.
