100 Days Until Winter Coat Drive Hosted By Lance Gross

The Salveō Group, Figgs Foundation, & Columbia Sportswear presents
“100 Days until Winter” Charitable Coat Drive

The Salveō Group and Figgs Foundation, team up with Columbia Sportswear to provide  winter coats for families and individuals  at a coat drive Sunday, August 21, 2016 between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Rivers Restaurant 30 South Wacker Drive Chicago hosted by actor, Lance Gross along with Michelle Releford, General Assignment Reporter and Fill-in Anchor of NBC 5 Chicago.
Kevin W. Freeman, Executive Director, The Salveō Group notes, that he has observed children who in the deep of Chicago winters dressed in hoodies and a light jacket on top and felt their pain. “I’d think, look at them under dressed in below zero temperatures, I’m cold and I’m dressed properly.”  Kevin says, “I knew then that I had to do something.”
There are some  1.9 million people residing in Illinois  living in poverty.  Statistics show that poverty will touch the majority of Americans at some point during adulthood. On average, 60% of 20 year-olds in America will experience poverty at some point during their adult years, and about half of adults will experience poverty by the time they are age 65. This is a daunting reality.
For these families and individuals, a warm coat during the winter months is a luxury item they cannot afford. The Salveō Group and Figgs Foundation have teamed up  with  Columbia Sportswear to invite area residents and community partners to make a difference in your neighbor’s lives by donating winter coats and dollars during our upcoming state-wide winter coat drive campaign.
The dynamic three (the Salveō Group, the Figgs Foundation and  Columbia Sportswear ) have joined forces to collect 1,000 clean, gently used winter coats, and dollars to support the state-wide charitable winter coat drive campaign.
The campaign jump starts in the summer with a charitable launch party on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at  3:00 p.m. before fall so that the families will not face winter unprepared.

Kevin W. Freeman, says “It’s uncommon to hear about a winter coat drive during the summer months. Hopefully the warm weather will encourage more people to reach into their closet to donate multiple winter coats without second guessing or hesitation. As you’re aware, winter comes fast here in the Midwest, therefore we need a 100 day head start to reach our 1,000 donated coat goal prior to the first day of winter (December 21, 2016). We are excited and honored to have Columbia Sportswear as our Strategic Community Partner.”- Kevin W. Freeman, Executive Director, The Salveō Group.
A follow up press conference on Wednesday, December 21   Columbia Sportswear 830 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, Illinois at 3:00 p.m. will witness as every donated winter coat will be given to local agencies for distribution to local children and adults in need.
“In these hard economic times there are thousands of individuals in our very own community that are without a warm winter coat. Anyone who needs a coat should have one. It’s the goal of the Figgs Foundation to assist people in the community with this bare necessity.” – Nyota Figgs,  Foundation, Founder.
