Zoe Saldana has announced that she has a condition called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis in yesterday’s issue of The EDIT.
The 38-year-old actress credits “clean eating” as an essential part of her treatment plan.
“Your body doesn’t have the energy it needs to filter toxins, causing it to believe that it has an infection, so it’s always inflamed,” Saldana told the magazine on Thursday.
The “Nina” star went on to explain that she has removed gluten and dairy out of her diet to help calm her body down. The illness has caused her to pay more attention to her body in general — including her bones, she added.
“I had a great time in my twenties. Then your doctor says you’re losing calcium in your bones,” Saldana noted. “What the f*ck is that?! I would hear those conversations with my mom and grandma, thinking I’d never get there … But all of a sudden it hits you. I sh*t you not, it’s from night to day.”
With the adjustments you’ve  made Zoe, we’re hoping that they keep you healthy!
