These horrific photos of a brutally beaten and battered Tennesee woman doesn’t even begin to tell the terrible tale of her domestic violence situation at the hands of her ex-boyfriend.
For starters, Angela Brower, 37, had the following devastating injuries that cannot be seen by  the naked eye:
- Brower had to undergo surgery to remove bone fragments from her face;
- Doctors had to place a metal ring around her eye to stop it from collapsing.”The orbital bone around my eye was completely shattered,” Brower told the media;
- Both sides of her nose were broken;
- The bottom left side of her face is still completely numb, and Brower said on her social media page that doctors told her that the feeling might never return.
- She suffered concussions from being punched in the head so hard that she was knocked unconscious;
- The physical pummeling she took pales in comparison to the overwhelming psychological and emotional damage she suffered, which she admits will take years to recover from.
- On top of it all, Brower is a waitress who admittedly lives from paycheck to paycheck and will be out of work during her recovery.
The woman posted these heartbreaking and extremely graphic photos of her own pummeling in an effort to spread awareness about domestic violence.
Angela Brower, 37, said she recently broke up with her boyfriend of six months after he became verbally and physically abusive towards her.
But when the man returned later to retrieve his belongings, he began punching her in the face so hard that she was knocked out.
Incredibly, Brower said she regained consciousness only to find him beating her in the back of the head. When she screamed for him to stop, for her children’s sake, he stopped, and that’s when she found a chance to escape.
“Does this look like LOVE TO ANYONE OF YOU?” she wrote on Facebook after she was released from the hospital.
Brower she wants other women to learn from her mistake returning to the man who continued to beat her.
“I want to raise awareness for women who are afraid and ashamed of what has been done to them,” she said. “They blame themselves. I want them to know that it is not their fault.”
Brower said this was the second time her ex-boyfriend hit her. And she finally gained the courage to move on.
“I made a mistake and I took him back, and everything was OK for a little while,” she said. “If you have never been there, you can’t understand why people go back. Women follow their heart, they love them, they want to believe them when they say they will change, they lose their friends and family and don’t feel like they have anyone.”
The unidentified ex-boyfriend has been charged with aggravated assault, a felony, and is being held on $20,000 bond, according to WREG News Channel 3.
Brower said she is scared for her and her children’s survival because server who lives from hand to mouth. But she cannot return to work for several weeks.
“I have health insurance, but it only covers half the costs,” she said. “I don’t want to lose everything I have because I fell in love with the wrong person.”
Brower is enlisting the help of GoFundMe, and people’s kindness, to help her raise money to offset the expenses.
Now that Brower is feeling — and looking — better, she knows there is one more hurdle she will have to scale. And that one will be the hardest.
“Mentally and emotionally though, it still takes some time,” she said.
Tennessee is overall one of the worst states at it pertains to domestic violence. Nationally, three women die a day from their partners or boyfriends, according to the National Network To End Domestic Violence.
