Milo Yiannopoulos has been permenantly banned from Twitter following Leslie Jones’ reports of abuse.
In its suspension notice to Yiannopoulus, a technology editor at the conservative news site Breitbart, Twitter cited “inciting targeted abuse of individuals,” according to Breitbart.
Jones quit Twitter Monday after she reported Yiannopoulos for abuse.
The Ghostbusters star retweeted some of the messages that flooded her timeline from numerous people, which included calling her an “ape,” a “big lipped coon,” and “the source of AIDS,” the Defender recently reported.
The 48-year-old responded to the hateful messages, saying, “I feel like I’m in a personal hell. I didn’t do anything to deserve this. It’s just too much. It shouldn’t be like this. So hurt right now.”
In a statement, a Twitter spokesman said: “People should be able to express diverse opinions and beliefs on Twitter. But no one deserves to be subjected to targeted abuse online, and our rules prohibit inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others.”
