A third man, currently jailed on unrelated charges, was denied bail Wednesday for his connection with the April quintuple homicide in the Chatham community. Michael King, 27, of the 6400 block of South Kenwood Avenue, was recently charged with the murders of Lakesha Doss, Whitney Flowers, Donovan Richardson, Anthony Scales and Reginald Walker. All five were found shot to death in a home in the 7600 block of South Rhodes Avenue that Richardson and Flowers lived in. The home was allegedly targeted because Richardson drove an expensive car and was known to have large amounts of cash and jewelry in the home, prosecutors said. King, along with Arthur Brown, 25, of south suburban Lansing, and Torolan Williams, 22, of the city’s Morgan Park community, each face five counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery, and one count of home invasion. Brown, a part-time United Postal Service supervisor, was charged earlier this month. Williams was charged in June. The mass homicide is the second incident of its kind in the last decade. In 2003, a man killed six people in an auto parts warehouse on the South Side. He was killed during a shoot-out with police. ______ Copyright 2008 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved.
