It’s always the right season for great gospel music in Chicago and fans everywhere can get ready for the biggest ever Chicago Gospel Music Festivals.

Legendary artists, including Grammy Award winners Joe Ligon and the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Vickie Winans, Rev. John P Kee, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Ricky Dillard, Donald Lawrence and Tamela Mann are headed this way.  If that’s not enough, also Smokie Norful, Kierra Sheard, Lecrae and local artists including Dexter Walker and Zion Movement will gather throughout Chicago to share hip slapping—toe tapping—good ole’ hand clapping gospel music June 20-23.

Not only is Chicago the gospel capital of the world, but it’s also known for some of the best choirs in America such as The Thompson Community Singers, Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer Choir, Fellowship Baptist and Christian Tabernacle just to name a few.

This year an exciting and new addition will be the Battle of the Chicago Gospel Choirs. Choir directors spread the word: “The Year of the Choir” is the theme so get ready to show up for the showdown!  Community and church choirs will have a chance to perform during the festival and walk away with $5000. Entries must be submitted by May 7.
