The Chicago Defender was at the 2016 Democratic National Convention covering some of the activities and meetings of the Illinois delegates in attendance.

Over 10,000 people descended on the city of Brotherly Love for five days with non-stop caucus meetings, delegate sessions, luncheons, mid-day receptions and after parties.

From the daily Illinois delegate morning sessions, to State Senator Kwame Raoul and Larry Rogers hosting a karaoke party at the host hotel on Tuesday night–this was another way for the state’s power brokers to come together.

Major corporations made their presence known throughout the week with top-level executives, gathering with policymakers to ensure their legislative priorities are not falling on deaf ears.
