Throughout the course of his recording career, Nas has been known to flex his benevolence in aiding those in need.

Most recently the platinum-selling MC has put a call to action via funding platform, Crowdtilt, in an effort to help Stanley Young, an unemployed Washington, D.C., construction worker and single father, find a new residence for himself and his eight children.

According to ABC News D.C. affiliate, WJLA, Young and his family have been temporarily residing in a hotel for the last two weeks, after a fire destroyed their home two weeks ago. Though the hotel has provided temporary shelter for the family, they must move out by August 13.

The tragic event has since caught the attention of the Def Jam Recording artist, who has already raised more than $20,000

He wrote on Crowdtilt,

Stanley Young is an unemployed construction worker and single father. Two weeks ago, a fire destroyed his home. His family is stuck in a hotel, but time is running out. I could barely watch his tragic story on the news… here’s the clip: https://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/08/young-family-seeks-home-after-fire-92390.html — they will be kicked out by August 13th if we don’t do something to help now.
