Location: Holiday Inn Mart Plaza - Search in Maps
Details:

Chicago's Bowen High School class of 1969 will stage its 40th reunion celebration Saturday, July 25, at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza in downtown Chicago and has issued an invitation to all grads from the South Side institution to join in the evening of fun and festivities. In addition to members of the class of '69, we welcome all Bowen grads, particularly those from the classes of the late 1960s and early 1970s, who shared with us so many of those unforgettable high school experiences, said Laura Gavzer Schwartz, chairperson of the reunion committee. The more, the merrier.

The night's program begins at 6 p.m. It will include music, dancing, karaoke and more, with local actor, government official and South Side native Cadillac Seth McCormick handling the important DJ duties. Tickets are $110 per person and $195 per couple, and may be purchased by sending a check to Phyllis Volk, 250 E. Pearson St., Unit 906, Chicago, IL, 60611. Those who want to reserve their spot may send a $25 deposit, with final payment due June 1. Make checks payable to Phyllis Volk and indicate Bowen Reunion in the memo section.

Two additional events are tentatively scheduled: a cocktail party in the hotel's hospitality suite Friday night, July 24, and day after party at a site still to be determined Sunday, July 26. The Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, located at 350 N. Orleans St., will offer special room rates to Bowenites. Those reservations must be made by June 24 by calling 312-836-5000 and mentioning Bowen Class of 1969 Reunion. A special Bowen reunion Web site at http://www.freewebs.com/bowen1969reunion provides additional details and a host of historical and poignant perspectives. The reunion committee also is seeking to find additional 1969 classmates. The Web site identifies those we have not yet located, said Schwartz. If fellow Bowenites have a street or e-mail address for those individuals, we ask that they e-mail the information to bowen69@wowway.com. Additional information is available by calling Brett Weiss at 630-248-5405.
