1 **TIPS IN WRITING ADS** Put yourself in the reader's position. What might they want to know? KEY WORDS: For employment (help wanted), begin with the job title (example: PRINTER, with experience, instead of EXPERIENCE Printer). Merchandise for sale should begin with the item itself (example: SOFA, green, instead of GREEN sofa). The location should lead off text in rental/real estate ads (required for suburban classifications). DESCRIBE: List the item's best features. Color, condition, model, etc., help the potential buyer determine interest. AVOID: abbreviations. Too many can confuse potential responders. Only standard abbreviations will be allowed. PRICE: Always include asking price. By doing so, potential buyers are "prequalified" in your price range.
