Many members of Black Twitter took great exception that Black Entertainment Television allegedly did not provide live coverage of the Million Man March’s 20th anniversary.
Actually, many were irate that the major mainstream networks ignored the unprecedented gathering of black men in the nation’s Capitol. But they were even more incensed that BET, a black network that caters exclusively to the black community, did not provide live coverage of the proceedings that was attended by Min. Louis Farrakhan, the founder of the original march in 1995, along with the likes of Russell Simmons, Common, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Young Jeezy, and members of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” among others.
To be fair, BET did state on their site they sent a news crew to the extravaganza, which took place in the same city as BET’s national headquarters.
Attempts to reach BET were unsuccessful, as the answering service notified this writer the offices were closed today, ostensibly in observation of the national holiday.
Nevertheless, there were plenty of angry individuals calling for heads and boycotts of BET, some in the most profane and vulgar manner. Here are some of the more tame Twitter responses to the allegations that BET did not provide live coverage of the Million Man March.
