Earlier this month, the Leadership Advisory Committee of the Art Institute of Chicago hosted A Royal Gala, celebrating the major African art exhibition Benin Kings and Rituals: Court Arts of Nigeria on display at the museum.

Proceeds from the event will support a professional development exchange between the Art Institute and Nigerian cultural institutions, as well as local programs for the Benin exhibition and future LAC initiatives.

The evening featured a host of people from Benin in Africa as well as Nigerian dignitaries. U.S. dignitaries, including Rev. Jesse Jackson and Mayor Richard M. Daley (below) attended the event and greeted the African delegations.
