The violence continues to plague our communities and this time it has come to the doorstep of one of the more influential political figures in the country.

According to WLS-ABC 7, last evening, Chicago police said a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood Friday evening, by a a group of men who forced their way into his home in the 5600 block of South Princeton. The victim is the grandson of U.S. Rep. Danny Davis, who represents Illinois’ 7th Congressional District.

Reportedly, the group of young men had a dispute over a pair of gym shoes when Javon Wilson was fatally shot in the head at close range. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Congressman Davis addressed reporters this morning after spending time with CPD and his son to gather more information.

Chicago police are investigating. No one is currently in custody.

Our condolences and prayers goes out to the family in the wake of another young life taken by the cruelty of gun violence.

We will update this story as new information is released.
