Vitamin Shoppe Phytoceramides

If you’ve never heard of Phytoceramides then you’re in for quite a surprise. Ceramides are naturally occurring fatty lipid molecules that are found in the skin, and phytoceramide –  are plant based ceramides – normally found in wheat, rice or sweet potatoes that mimic the ones found in our skin.

Recently approved for use by the FDA in the US, phytoceramide has been used in Japan for over a hundred years. The concept behind the supplement is simple – lock in moisture from the inside out. Phytoceramides penetrates through all four layers of the skin from the epidermis to the basal level increasing collagen production which in turn helps alleviate frown lines and wrinkles. Most people I recommended the product to began to see results within a matter of days.

If you’re allergic to wheat products be sure to opt for the rice or sweet potato sourced product. I liked the Vitamin Shoppe’s house brand which retails for under $20 for a bottle of 30 liquid capsules.

Paula’s Choice – Resist 10% Vitamin B3 Booster

Paula’s Choice – Resist 10% Niacinamide Booster –  is another product that’s new on the market but delivers some fairly dramatic results. Most over-the-counter products usually contain 1 or 2% active ingredients so the 10% caught my attention.

Niacinamide, a form of Vitamin B3, is a potent cell-communicating ingredient that offers multiple benefits for skin, with research proving that Niacinamide shrinks enlarged pores and visibly reduces wrinkles. The high concentrated, water-like fluid can be used alone or in conjunction with any of your favorite moisturizers to boost overall results.

The manufacturer claims the product helps regulate sebum production, improves elasticity while promoting a more even skin texture and tone. The product retails for $42 at http://www.paulaschoice.com/

imagesDr. Elton Tinsley is a world renown, cosmetic surgeon and dermatologist who specializes in ethnic skin care. Dr. Tinsley has pioneered some amazing techniques and products and one of them is the Triple X-Fade Cream, my personal favorite.  For years due to improper shaving, I had discoloration in the beard area and after he introduced me to Triple X, it changed my life. Prior to Dr. Tinsley, nothing I tried really worked to even out my skin tone.

There’s a lot that I could say about this product but to keep it simple – it faded the dark areas without bleaching my entire skin. Triple X can be used on any part of the body and a little goes a long way. A 2.5-ounce container cost $60 and the product is only sold in his office. Call 312.222.0030 to schedule a consultation.
