Monday afternoon, actor and rapper Nick Cannon participates in what he called a ” peaceful protest for Black Lives Matter”outside the Republican National Convention.

During the protest Cannon advocated for Black people to withdraw their votes from either political party. The former husband of Mariah Carey went on to note that he felt “let down” by by both the Republicans and Democrats, and called for justice and an end to shootings of black men by police.

“We want to feel safe. We want the American Dream,” he said, according to the Daily Caller. “You are messing with our peace of mind. We can’t operate as Americans when we can’t walk outside and feel safe.”
