Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West sent Mo’Ne Davis and her team home after their face-off at the Little League World Series.

The boys brought home the U.S. title when they beat the Taney Dragons 7-5 on Saturday night, Time.com reports. The world has been keeping a close eye on both squads this summer because they’ve both broken the mold for little league in one way or another. JRW is the first all-black team to get to the Series, and the Mo’Ne has stunned everyone as the first black girl to pitch a shut-out game.

The Chicago Tribune reports that people from all over the city came out to support the young men, during a watch party outside of the Chicago Theatre downtown! There was cheering in the streets when boys from the Windy City came out on top.

Over in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, JRW celebrated the win with some of their competitors just moments after leaving the field. “Right now, they’re hanging out with Team Canada, eating pizza and hot wings,” head coach Darrel Butler told WGN News.

“If I could do a backflip, I would,” he said. “I’m just happy for the kids. I’m very excited about that.”

Darrell wasn’t going to let the guys stay up too late last night because JRW had a game with South Korea today, so he wanted his team well-rested. While the boys were enjoying the thrill of victory, he was working on a way to beat South Korea.

Remaining tight-lipped about his strategy for victory, Darrel said, “I’m going to review some film tonight, and I’m going to come up with a master plan for tomorrow.”

Many people were rooting for both sets of kids on Saturday night, but only one team could come out on top. Fans would have loved to see Mo’Ne advance in the series, but an all-black team snag the U.S. titled was an exciting prospect, too! Either way, it was going to be a historic win.

While Mo’Ne was clearly disappointed by the loss, she was gracious in defeat as she told fans, “Thank you for supporting us, and we tried our best.
