Chicago Man Arrested and Charged for Striking a Police Officer with Vehicle

Authorities have arrested and charged Anthony M. Turner, 24, of the 6700 Block of S. Langley for striking an officer with his vehicle.

Turner was arrested on July 19, 2014. The incident occurred in the 6500 Block of S. Langley at approximately 10:00 p.m. He was observed driving the wrong way down the street, according to officials.

Officers approached the vehicle, at which time Turner accelerated towards officers and struck an officer as he attempted to flee. Turner then struck a parked car and fled on foot. Officers were able to arrest him a shortly thereafter. The injured officer was taken to an area hospital and was treated and released.  No other injuries were reported. Turner was charged accordingly:

 One Felony Count of Aggravated Battery/Police Officer

One Felony Count of Solicitation – Ivc – Fleeing/Attempt Elude Off 3+

One Count of Misdemeanor Leaving the Scene of an Accident

One Count of Misdemeanor Reckless Driving

Three traffic citations for: Driving on a Suspended License; Failure to Reduce Speed; Operating a Vehicle   Without Insurance
