Circumstances of Disappearance:  Janteyl was last seen at her home in Newark, Del.

She was 5 months pregnant at the time she disappeared. Her brother was supposed to pick her up at the family’s apartment. When he arrived, he found the door unlocked and no one home. Janteyl may have been in the company of an adult male.

Her mother, Kima Johnson, says she was talking to her daughter by phone one hour and the next she had disappeared.

“I called her back the next hour, and she’s gone,” Johnson told NBC Philadelphia. “No clue as to where she is or what happened. It’s a nightmare.”

Natalie Wilson, co-founder of the Black and Missing Foundation, said the group has noticed “a spike in the number of missing pregnant teenage girls and women.”

NewsOne reported on the case of Ebony Jackson, a mother to a newborn who was found dead in St. Louis in January 2013. Last week, NewsOne profiled the missing case of Morgan Keyanna Martin who was four months pregnant when she went missing from her Florida home.

“This is a vulnerable time, especially with an unplanned pregnancy,” Wilson told NewsOne. “We remind parents to keep the lines of communications open with their pregnant daughters, and to give them the love and support they need.”

That includes closely monitoring the relationships of their children, especially with the father of the child, and being even more vigilant if the girl is young or underage.

Police are also baffled by what happened to the teen; they interviewed friends, family, and Janteyl’s boyfriend all with no luck.

“Right now it doesn’t look good,” a spokesman from New Castle County Police said when the teen first disappeared. “Most times people will call someone and she hasn’t.”

Cpl. Jacob Andrews, a spokesman for New Castle County Police, told NewsOne that Janteyl’s case is still listed as an active missing persons case but there have been no new leads.

Police recently distributed fliers in the area where Janteyl went missing and received a few calls but, unfortunately, none of the leads panned out.

The passage of time only makes things worse.

“It’s hard not knowing where she is and how she is,” said Johnson.

Last Seen Wearing: Short black ski jacket with fur around the hood.

Identifying Marks or Characteristics: Scar under bottom lip on her chin.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Janteyl Johnson should call New Castle County Police at (302) 395-8131 or contact the Black and Missing Foundation’s confidential Tip Line. A Facebook page has been created to help with the effort to find Janteyl.
