Chicago Police Issue Austin Community Alert for Sexual Assault Involving Girl, 13

Chicago police issued a community alert after the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl on Parkside near Race Street.

The Chicago Police tells ABC News Chicago that the girl was on her way to school and walking on Race towards Parkside when a male approached her on foot on Monday. He asked the victim her name and said he had been watching her.

The offender grabbed the victim around her neck, told her he had a gun and walked her to his parked vehicle located at 411 N. Parkside.

He ordered her into his vehicle, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

The offender then drove the victim to her home and told her to get him money or he would burn the house down. The victim went inside and called police. The man fled before police arrived.

The vehicle is described as four-door, white, and older, unknown model.

The offender is described as:

-Male black, approximately 23-27 years of age
-6 ft. 2 or 6 ft. 3 inches, 180-200 lbs.
-Brown eyes, black hair worn in chin length dread locks, slight beard, and mustache
-The offender was wearing a black skull cap, black hoodie, and black sweat pants
-The offender’s vehicle was a four door older mid to large size car white in color

Chicago police asked residents to take the following precautions:

-Be aware of this situation and alert your neighbors.
-Call 911 to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity in your neighborhood.
-Do not let children walk alone. Identify save havens along your child’s route to school, such as businesses or trusted neighbors.
-Find out how to start a Parent Patrol or Walking School Bus Program at your child’s school. Call the CAPS Implementation Office at 312-745-5900 for more information on this and other safety programs.
