CHICAGO (AP) — The new CEO of the Chicago Housing Authority is poised to take the helm.

Charles Woodyard is scheduled to begin his new post on Monday.

Woodyard comes to Chicago from the Charlotte Housing Authority, where he was president. He had been with the North Carolina agency since 2002.

He replaces former CHA chief Lewis Jordan, who resigned in June as city officials were awaiting a review on city credit card use at the housing authority and other agencies.

Officials have said Jordan used his city card to pay for flowers and gift cards for employees. Interim CEO Carlos Ponce will stay as a senior advisor to Woodyard.

The CHA provides public housing and vouchers more than 54,000 seniors and families.
