Gov. Pat Quinn has proclaimed June as Leave No Child Inside Month in Illinois.
CHICAGO (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn has proclaimed June as Leave No Child Inside Month in Illinois.
As part of that, the state Department of Natural Resources is encouraging kids to explore Illinois’ outdoor natural sites.
Special events are scheduled throughout the month at parks and recreation areas around the state.
Department Director Marc Miller says it’s important for kids to turn off the TV and video games and get outside to learn about nature.
Leave No Child Inside Month kicks off at Northerly Island in Chicago on Saturday.
