CHICAGO (AP) — A former top aide to Rod Blagojevich says the former governor was jealous that Barack Obama won the presidency. Former Deputy Gov. Doug Scofield testified Wednesday at Blagojevich’s corruption trial that his boss assessed his political situation the day after Obama’s win. He says Blagojevich says there’s nothing he could have done about Obama — unless he’d been able to stop Obama from speaking at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Obama became famous for his keynote speech. Witnesses have said Blagojevich once had presidential aspirations of his own. Scofield says there was "a measure of jealousy" in what Blagojevich was saying. Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to charges that include trying to sell or trade an appointment to Obama’s old seat.
