This year’s Chicago Gospel Music Festival is set to start in Millennium Park June 6.

This year’s Chicago Gospel Music Festival is set to start in Millennium Park June 6.

Donnie McClurkin will take to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion stage on opening night of the fest. On Sunday night, Mr. Sunday Best himself, multi-award winning Kirk Franklin, will be the main attraction. Fantasia and her mother, Diane Barrino, will perform just before Franklin.

Highlights for this year’s event, the city’s 25th, includes performances by the Quartet Special featuring Doc McKenzie & the Hi- Lites and Lee Williams & The Spirituals. The Fred Nelson III presentation of An Evening of Gospel Elegance on Saturday will feature Rodrick Dixon, The Divine Divas, Felicia Coleman Evans, Connie Kinnison and Elizabeth Norman Sojourner along with the Gospel Music According to Chicago Mass Choir.
