Congratulations to Chicago’s Maurice Griffin, who was one of the 20 finalists who auditioned for Black Entertainment Television’s new hit show "Sunday Best!"
More than 6,000 contestants nationwide competed in round one and gave their best performance for the gospel version of "American Idol." Griffin considers himself very blessed.
“I am very excited and must remind myself to stay calm and humble,” he said. He is well known on the gospel front and has high hopes of becoming the next best gospel singer through the BET show, which he is currently taping in Atlanta, the new home of the popular gospel competition. This is the second season for "Sunday Best!"
Not only is the powerful tenor a member of the Stellar Award-winning recording choir, New Direction, but in the last two years he formed his own group, Maurice Griffin Ministries.
Last week, while on the set of BET’s "Sunday Best," the Chicago native shared why he decided to enter the contest.
