    This event is a month-long exhibition with a VIP reception mid-month followed by a short lecture by a prominent African American historian on February 2 – March 31, 2009.

    Date: February 2 – March 31, 2009    (By popular demand, the event has been extended an extra month)

    Location: Historic South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 South Shore Drive, Chicago

    Exhibit: 9 am-9 pm daily

    Price: Free

    Objective: Showcase the treasured archives that date back to the early 1900s and to continue to empower the community through knowledge of our historic accomplishments as a people

    Program: A month long exhibition with a VIP reception mid-month followed by a short lecture by a prominent African American historian; this grass roots effort was part of an overall strategy to showcase the treasured archives of the Chicago Defender
