A Cook County jury has found a man guilty of trying to rob former presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Carol Moseley Braun.
State’s attorney’s office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton says jurors deliberated about four hours Tuesday before finding Joseph Dixon guilty of attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery. Simonton says the 39-year-old faces between six and 30 years in prison when he’s sentenced July 11th. Braun was attacked as she entered her Hyde Park home late on April 27th, 2007. She broke her wrist. Braun identified Dixon as her attacker during the trial. She said he slashed at her with a knife as she pulled away and screamed as loud as she could. Dixon’s public defender, Sandra Parris, has questioned whether Braun saw his face clearly. (AP) ______ Copyright 2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
