MTV recently announced that Kanye West will receive the Vanguard Award at this year’s VMAs.
The artist, who is husband to reality star Kim Kardashian and father of North (with another little one on the way), has quite a catalog of hits. While his musical innovation tends to get somewhat overlooked by the latest gossip surrounding him and his family, one thing cannot be denied– Kanye is more than deserving of recognition for his talent.
While fans are excited to witness the honor, they can only hope that he accepts the award in a tasteful and humble manner. Ever since his interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 ceremony, it just could be the moment that redeems him in the eyes of MTV and the music community.
